NACM – SwiftView Users’ FAQ
Some companies’ computer networks are configured so that users cannot add programs to their PC’s. If you get an error on install that says you do not have permission or rights to install the program please contact someone in your IS Staff to install the SwiftView program.
SwiftView does not use the normal Windows print options, ie “File – Print” or the Internet Explorer toolbar “Print Icon”. To print from SwiftView you must use the SwiftView print icon that appears on the right hand side of the browser in the SwiftView menu bar.
Due to the fact that every member has a different computer and printer configuration there is no sure way to predict how long it will take to print a complete Credit Report Book. A few of the factors that will influence the length of time it takes to print your booklet are:
1)
The size of the booklet itself. If
the book is 100 pages and you have a 4ppm (pages per min.) printer then you
would start with a base time of 25 minutes.
Find out the specifics of your printer before beginning to determine how
long the job will take. Inkjet printers are not recommended for printing the
books due to the average size of the book.
2)
Are you printing to a network
printer? When printing to a network printer you must take into consideration the
number of others using the printer and whether or not there are any other
waiting print jobs. Also look at your LAN network speed (ie 10mbps or 100mbps)
to determine how long it would take for the print job to traverse the gap from
your PC to the network printer. The amount of memory on the network printer also
plays a part since it determines how much of the print job can be loaded onto
the printer at one time.
Please
see your IS staff representative to assist with the above calculations.
3)
Are you printing from the website
or from a local copy? Work with a local copy of the Credit Report Book to speed
up your work. Right mouse click on the link to the book and select the “Save
Target As” option to put a copy of the book onto your hard drive. Then
open the book from your hard drive to improve performance.
The new 5.6.0 version of SwiftView introduces a new print option called “Direct Print”.
