Job Hunter Tips from the USAE Career Letter!
A clear, concise resume can be your ticket to landing a sought-after job. Here is the first installment of resume-related tips.
Work
history: If you have a short employment history, or limited experience in
the field you are applying, include other positions. They can help to show
that you have worked for others, show up on time and can fulfill
responsibilities.
It
is sometimes hard to determine whether to stress your education or past
employment experience in your resume. Here are some tips:
If you have more than five years of work experience, experts recommend listing education after experience. Employers are more likely to be interested in your career accomplishments.
GPA: If you are a student or recent graduate, include your GPA if it’s higher than 3.0. If your school’s scale differs from the standard 4.0 scale, be sure to list the scale as well.
Honors: Include academic honors to support your GPA
Consider
using numbers to help your resume stand out from other potential applicants.
Here are some tips to help draw some extra attention to your
accomplishments.
